Design Centre Stories

A Big Splash

The affinity between a hand-made rug and a piece of art has been explored before, but seldom are the two as close as this. The ‘Delphine’ rug carefully replicates the flowing, bleeding lines of a watercolour, painting a technical feat requiring over 20 colours of yarn to be used. Topfloor by Esti’s founder, Esti Barnes, carefully translated the original artwork to a paper version to map out the colours, before the design was recreated in plush silk, ensuring that it stays as true as possible to the original. The rug is a collaboration with interior design firm Rebecca James Studio.
