André Fu , the acclaimed interior designer behind projects such as the lobby of the Jia Shanghai hotel and the Shangri-La hotel inTokyo, has been enlisted to design a collection of rugs for Tai Ping Carpets. Employing skilled hand-tufting techniques and using only the finest fibres (wool, cashmere and silk), his rugs are couture-like in both appearance and craft. Tweedy texturing and sweeping calligraphic brushstrokes make for particularly engaging designs, the latter a nod to Fu’s heritage.
