Seventies Luxe

Channelling the era of Halston, Yves Saint Laurent and Warhol, Baker’s new Baker Luxe collection was inspired by the daring art, fashion and design of the seventies. The 90 new designs – Baker’s largest-ever collection – are described as “art pieces for the home”.

Contrary to the notion that the seventies were about loud colour and clashing pattern, however, Baker has styled the collection in a subdued palette, putting the emphasis on sculptural shapes, textured finishes and materials such as plaster, stone and glass. Highlights included the ‘Ariana’ table in grey quartz (pictured above left, with a ‘Declan’ chair) and the ‘Runway’ bench (pictured above right, with an ‘Ellipse’ mirror). There’s room for a bit of playfulness, too: the disco-ball-inspired ‘Reflection’ console has a faceted, mirror-clad surface that bounces shards of light on to its surroundings.

Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour remains in support of all its showrooms, despite their closure during this time. Until restrictions are lifted, please contact each showroom directly for more information, or ask for help from the Design Centre’s Personal Shopping or Designer Sourcing Service.
