For those seeking bench-made cabinetry with a contemporary twist, Refectory from Christopher Peacock could be the perfect fit. Inspired by monastic dining rooms, prep school dining halls, and Ivy League and English university eating quarters, it features signature inset doors with a simple stepped profile using hand selected, quartered white oak. Chunky icebox roller latches and strap hinges are a modern interpretation of a classic. “The hardware in the Refectory collection had to be beautiful as well as adhere to this notion of scale that is inherent in it. I think of the hardware as cabinet jewellery and, as such, the character of the room is often defined by the choices made. It is important that it functions well within a hectic modern family,” says founder Christopher Peacock.
