The Design Club is a private members’ club and events space for people in the design and creative industries. Based in Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour and created by international designer Rabih Hage, the club is a unique and stylish venue in which to work, relax, entertain and network.

INDUSTRY TALK: Engaging New Audiences with Targeted TV

The Design Club welcomed AdSmart from Sky for an insightful introduction to the power of targeted tv advertising. Attendees discovered how luxury brands are utilising tv adverts to build emotional connections with consumers; discovering new audiences and re-engaging current customers. The discussion showcased the possibility for those in the design industry to build brand awareness and stand out against competitors, with case studies including OKA.

INDUSTRY TALK: Intellectual Property & the Design Industry 

The Design Club hosted a talk by specialist Intellectual Property (IP) consultancy GJE to all those whose businesses are affected by IP issues. Specially tailored to the design industry, the lecture explored the rights that can be used to protect the shape and appearance of products, branding and other creative elements, as well as how to tailor protection to suit a business. 

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

The Design Club hosted an event as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, raising £670 in cash donations for the charity. Tempting treats on offer for this good cause included delicious coffee walnut cakes, brownies and peanut butter cupcakes.

GUILD OF FOOD WRITERS

The Guild of Food Writers is the UK’s association for professional writers and broadcasters. The Design Club played host to an insightful workshop, looking at trends in food publishing, ingredients and hospitality.

INSIDE DESIGN 

Exchanging ideas and learning from experts is crucial to a thriving design industry. Interior designer Charles Bateson launched the first of his ‘Inside’ workshops, with  House & Garden Top 100 Designer Eleanora Cunietti who dedicated the day to the VIP apartment at Bicester village: “The process only took eight months from concept stage through design and installation” she said of the project.

DATA MADE EASY

No matter what industry you are in, data is impacting everyone’s marketing approach and now plays an integral part for many businesses when developing their commercial strategy. Stephen Noble and Guy O’Brien of Encore Digital Media were in the Design Club offering their thoughts on the importance of data and how to use it to greater effect within the luxury market. “Keep yourself front of mind with your existing visitors, but do it respectively,” said Stephen on the hot topic of re-targeting.

THE LOST LETTER FROM MOROCCO – BOOK SIGNING

Adrienne Chinn – novelist, designer, photographer, and traveler – held an evening soiree at the Design Club to celebrate her latest novel The Lost Letter from Morocco. Well supported by friends and fans alike, Adrienne was on hand to sign copies in between the flow of bubbles and delicious canapés. Rich, evocative and utterly immersive, Adrienne’s book captures an intense, exotic world leaving you always wanting more.

 

FAME EXHIBITION

Fame was a pop-up photography exhibition, in association with Box Galleries, which celebrated the great icons of our time, from the 1960s to the present day. Looking at the ever-changing notion of fame and its impact on popular culture today, this exhibition delighted fans of celebrity portraiture, with walls covered with images, many unseen, of some of the most collectable stars of the 20th Century. A visual Who’s Who, don’t miss candid photographs by Andy Gotts MBE, alongside work by American photographer Douglas Kirkland and instantly recognisable editorial portraits by Terry O’Neill of Raquel Welch, Brigitte Bardot and Faye Dunaway, amongst others.
