Stand and Deliver Masterclass: The Art of Giving a Confident and Persuasive Presentation with Mike Caridia

The ‘Stand & Deliver’ masterclass with Mike Caridia was a huge success, designed to help busy people build on and increase their communication and presentation skills.

On arrival, guests were greeted with champagne and delicious nibbles from Simpkin & Roses, followed by a quick chance to network, before taking their seats. Mike started his career as a child actor working with Norman Wisdom and Leslie Phillips before setting up his own business in 1988 offering marketing communication services.

He brought star sparkle to the informative and engaging presentation, with witty references to his days as actor. Without a microphone, Mike showed how to communicate with confidence, incorporating amusing impressions of what not to do when presenting and trying to win a pitch.

There were plenty of questions after the talk as well as more socialising and conversation before guests left ready to try out their new found powers of persuasion. The masterclass is part of a series organised by the Design Club.

Detox Supper Club with Chef Nina Parker

Following the indulgence of Christmas 2015, London based Chef and culinary writer, Nina Parker hosted a triumphant Detox Supper Club, consisting of a bespoke three-course gluten and diary free menu.

The table was decorated beautifully, taking inspiration from the South of France where Nina spent a happy childhood, and whose local cuisine inspired her recent cook book ‘Nina St. Tropez’.  With antique lace tablecloths, roses, sweet-smelling lilies and scenes of St.Tropez projected onto the Design Club walls, all that was missing was sunshine and heat.

Delicious detox juices, either green or spice, along with canapés of paprika hummus on baby gem lettuce followed a mouth-watering starter of slow-cooked beetroot with a Merlot vinaigrette and toasted hazelnuts. Conversation flowed as the main course of vegetable curry with brown rice was served.  Who would have thought that cashew basil pesto would work so well with a curry? The final triumph was caramelised apple and plum tart with whipped coconut cream for pudding.  It was in fact, so delicious that guests found it hard to believe that it could be good for you. Herbal tea was offered as happy diners relaxed in the cosy surroundings of the Design Club before departing with goody bags containing recipe cards of the evening’s menu.  There were certainly many inspired guests who ‘got their chef on’ after the event.
