Design Centre East Cafe
Completing the recent expansion of Design Centre East, a stylish new café has opened on the second floor. With its beguiling mix of cosy banquettes, dark metallics, surface textures and soft geometrics, it provides the perfect, contemporary setting where visitors can re-energise and relax. Having scoured the showrooms for every last detail for a project, take a seat and mull over your choices with a fresh muffin or cup of coffee by Absolute Taste. But if you are looking to be inspired by more than just the coffee, everything from the tables to the tiles in the café have been sourced at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
Karina Garrick was commissioned to transform a blank canvas just over the bridge link into an original and relaxing environment. Statement ‘Karina’ mirrors with liquid metal frames and ‘Chaos’ detailing by Decorus were introduced to create movement and reflection against a backdrop of Arte’s ‘Facet’ textured wallcovering. ‘Urban Geometria’ tiles by Petracer’s at R.I.M Tile & Mosaic Boutique brought pattern interest behind the bar. High banquette seating, upholstered in vertical bands of ‘City’ and ‘Mungo’ fabrics by Pierre Frey, were chosen for their subtle stitching and warm tones. This is balanced with ‘Hondrum Petite’ tables by Decorus and versatile stools by David Seyfried Ltd. To complete the look, Porta Romana’s ‘Cross Braced’ ceiling lights with a patinated bronze finish and exquisite silk shades, added to the intimate feel. Creating bespoke designs is a huge part of what is on offer at the Design Centre and Decorus made the burnished metal bar top and wall plinths specially for the space.
Take a break surrounded by the best of contemporary design – it is an experience not to be missed.
